SIM Community

Interested in taking part in the SIMULUS projects? Please join!

ESA is very committed to further develop, improve and maintain SIMULUS in the decades to come. For the benefits of ESA activities, citizens, companies and institutions of the ESA Member States, those projects are made available at no cost and their development are open for collaboration.

At the same time ESA is welcoming new partners, both organisations and individuals, that would like to join the SIM Community and be part of the development of SIMULUS. This can be from asking questions, to contribute fixes, to even become equal partners with ESA and help shape SIMULUS future.

SIMULUS projects are made available on the space-codev.org platform. Beyond a place to access the software, the Collaborative development platform of the European Space community (space-codev.org) allows you being part of the SIM community, in which all its members can together work collaboratively on the various projects.

Added values

Concretely, being part of the SIM community allows you to access the software and its source code, report and track issues, access and improve documentation, receive or fix software issues, improve and extend the software, take part of technical discussions, influence and take decisions on the software evolution.

Contributing

Anyone having joined space-codev.org can also join the SIM community. Every SIM community member can suggest and make changes to the community software. A Governance defines the rules of the community in order to work together. The SIM Community Governance which is accessible once having joined space-codev.org and the SIM Community. A SIM Community Contributor Agreement, required before contributing, is available on the SIM community site.

How to join SIM community?

Once you have joined space-codev.org and your account is approved you should be able to use your credentials to access the Gitlab SIM group located https://gitlab.space-codev.org/sim. Simply click on the "Request Access" and your request will be processed in order to include you in the community as an User.

After you join the community please read the information in the SIM Community website, which describes its governance and processes (only visible after joining the community).
